TRY IT FOR YOURSELF

A GIF Splitter for Every Useful Moment

Follow an original fox animation through its poses. The example is a real 12-frame GIF that you can open, inspect and export in the workspace.

FRAME 01

Find the starting pose

Inspect the first frame without trying to pause a moving animation at just the right moment.

FRAME 04

Catch an expression

Move through the sequence to find the pose or expression that works as a standalone image.

FRAME 07

Compare the movement

Select separated moments to study how the paw, ears and expression change across the animation.

INSPECT THE SEQUENCE

View a GIF Frame by Frame

An animation is a sequence of complete pictures. Inspect the details, keep the important frames, and make them useful outside the GIF.

  • Play and pause, or scrub directly to a frame.
  • Inspect complete reconstructed frames, not partial GIF patches.
  • Select every frame or only the moments you want to keep.

CONTROL THE OUTPUT

Extract GIF Frames as PNG Images

Save one frame as a PNG, or download your selection together in a ZIP. Each frame retains the GIF canvas dimensions so the images stay aligned.

  • Download the currently displayed frame.
  • Use checkboxes to choose which frames go in the ZIP.
  • Keep the included JSON timing data for later animation work.

THREE SIMPLE STEPS

How to Split a GIF into Frames

From your original file to a useful result in three simple steps.

01

Open your animation

Upload an animated GIF or explore the included example.

02

Find the right frames

Play, pause and inspect each frame. Select all frames or just a few moments.

03

Download your selection

Save a single PNG or get your selected frames and their timing data together in a ZIP.

MADE FOR YOUR NEXT PROJECT

Extract GIF Frames for More Than a Preview

01

Study an animation

Look at poses and transitions frame by frame without guessing where to pause.

02

Choose a still image

Find one useful moment and export it as a complete PNG image.

03

Continue in another tool

Take selected frames and their timing data into a design or animation workflow.

Still Images, with Timing Kept Alongside

PNG files are still images. The accompanying data records frame delays in milliseconds so you can rebuild playback elsewhere. GIF decoding and exports run in your browser without an account or credits.

GIF to Frames: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I break a GIF into separate frames?

Open the animation in this GIF to frames converter. It reconstructs the sequence into complete images. Inspect the frames, select the ones you need, then save a single PNG or download your selection in a ZIP.

Are GIF files uploaded to a server?

No. GIF decoding, previews and downloads run in your browser. These tools do not use an AI API, require sign-in or spend credits.

Will I get complete frames rather than small image patches?

Yes. The decoder combines GIF frame patches using their position, transparency and disposal instructions before exporting complete frames.

What are the file limits?

Open a GIF up to 20 MB with up to 200 frames. There is also a 36-million-pixel total decoded-frame budget to keep memory use manageable. Large sprite sheets are limited to 32 million pixels.

Is the animation timing preserved?

The frame metadata includes each frame’s delay in milliseconds. A PNG or sprite sheet is a still image; use the timing data to reconstruct playback in your animation tool.

Can I turn the frames into a sprite sheet?

Yes. Open the GIF to Sprite Sheet tool to arrange frames into rows and columns with custom spacing.
